About this tool
CSV is the format most apps and databases accept for imports. Each sheet with data becomes its own file, and you can choose a comma, semicolon or tab separator. Formatting, formulas and charts are not kept, because CSV stores only the values you see.
How to use Excel to CSV
- Add an XLSX, XLS or ODS file.
- Choose a separator. Comma suits most apps.
- Select Convert to CSV, then download the files.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to a workbook with several sheets?
Each sheet that has data becomes its own CSV file, and you can download them together as a ZIP.
Are formulas kept?
No. CSV holds only values, so each cell is saved as the result you see in the spreadsheet.
Why are Urdu characters broken when I open the CSV in Excel?
Excel needs a small marker to read Urdu and other languages. Leave the option for this switched on, and they will show correctly.
